Sometimes an engineer may need to visit your home to take a meter reading, install a meter or fix one if it’s faulty.
How to identify an engineer
We take the security of our members very seriously.
To help you check the identity of any visiting engineers:
- each engineer will carry identification to prove who they are
- each engineer will wear the uniform of the company they work for
- we can give the engineer a codeword they must give you before entering your home - just let us know if you want to set this up
If you're not sure, you can refuse the engineer entry, or you can call us on 0300 30 30 635 to confirm it’s a genuine visit.
Companies we work with
We work with 4 companies whose engineers carry out visits on our behalf.

We use Siemens to install smart meters and non-smart electricity meters in our members’ homes.
Lowri-Beck

National Grid
