First generation (SMETS1) smart meters

If you have a first generation (SMETS1) smart meter, we're hoping to be able to take automatic readings from it soon. For that reason, we're not planning to replace SMETS1 smart meters with second generation (SMETS2) smart meters.

There's a national program to bring all smart meters on to the same network. This should be completed before the end of 2020. This means we'll be able to read SMETS1 smart meters automatically. And they'll stay smart if you decide to leave Bulb.

If you have a SMETS1 meter, we’ll let you know when we're able to read it automatically.
