My smart meter's In-Home Display (IHD) screen has gone off, what should I do?

When you have a smart meter installed, you'll also be offered in In-Home Display (IHD). This is a small screen which talks wirelessly to your smart meters and shows your energy usage in Kilowatt Hours (kWh) and pounds and pence.

The IHD you're given will be partially charged. If the screen has gone blank, the first thing you should do is plug it in and recharge it.

Once it's plugged in, press the small, flat round button on the back to turn the screen on again.

We recommend keeping the IHD plugged in, ideally somewhere you can see it, like a kitchen windowsill.

When it's fully charged and unplugged, the internal battery will last about an hour and a half.

If recharging the IHD doesn't fix the problem, please get in touch.

Your IHD isn't your smart meter. So if the screen does stop working, you won't go off supply, and you won't lose your data.
