Why do you ask where my gas meter is, when I book a smart meter installation?

We ask this question to see if your meter is ‘semi-concealed’. If it is, we can’t switch it over to a smart meter just yet.

Semi-concealed gas meters often look like this:


When you open the lid, the meter inside is partially below ground level.

This means it needs specialist equipment to replace. Siemens, our engineers, don’t have this equipment available just yet.

We ask this question to avoid the risk of booking an installation and only being able to replace one meter. If you do have a meter like this, we’ll stop the booking for now and invite you to book again when then equipment is available.
