What is a standing charge?

A standing charge is a daily fee that covers the cost of engineer visits, meter maintenance and keeping you connected to the network. Part of the standing charge also goes towards government schemes like reducing carbon emissions and helping vulnerable homes.

The standing charge isn’t related to the amount of gas or electricity you use, which is why there could still be a fee to pay if your property has been left empty for a while.

The daily standing charge for Bulb members who pay monthly is:

20.44p for electricity
20.44p for gas

And the standing charge for Bulb top-up members is:

30.42p for electricity
28.31p for gas
